Listening Blog #12

Listening Blog #12 For my blog this week I chose the song "Hello" by Adele. This song has so many memories tied in with it. I remember this song was released when I was in seventh grade. I remember listening to it in my CTE Woodshop class. I also remember everyone at school whenever anyone would say hello would do it in the classic Adele voice. I think it is pretty comical that all these middle schoolers were singing this dramatic breakup song haha. I actually really enjoy this song but I have the first three lines engraved in my brain and so it brings me back to the horrible times in middle school haha. I have always really liked Adele though. She has such a distinct voice and style and her breakup songs are the best to scream in the car. I think that she really has a gift for singing and I also really enjoy her pretty simple music. I think that she does a good job of having pretty minimal music which allows her to really showcase her vocal skills. Overall, I really enjoy t...

Listening Blog #11

Listening Blog #11      This week for my blog I listened to "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift. This song is one of the few songs that I have done for blogs for this class that I had listened to previously. I have always loved Taylor Swift and I am especially fond of her older more country style. This was one of Taylor Swift's first songs and I have always really liked it. It has the cool feel of first young love and looking back on that. I love how she talks about specific memories of first love and how music helps to take the intended audience back to that. I always liked the thought of listening to a specific artist and being taken back to a time. I have enjoyed some of Taylor Swift's newer albums but I was pretty excited when she rereleased some of her old stuff recently. It always takes me back to listening to the radio in the back of my mom's truck as a kid. I think this song really exemplifies that feeling of looking back at music and having memories associated ...

Listening Blog #10

Listening Blog #10 For my blog this week I chose the song "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel. This song has a really cool vibe and I really liked the lyrics as well. The beginning was probably my favorite part as it was just kind of grooving and had a cool style to it. This song definitely had a lot of symbolism and it had interesting lyrics. It did repeat the same few lines a lot but it did have quite a few different parts that differentiated the different parts of the song. I also really enjoyed the instruments in this song. I thought that the horns and drums were both used really well and helped to keep the song upbeat and fun to listen to. I really liked Peter Gabriel's voice. I hadn't listened to him before and thought he had a really cool voice and singing style. I thought that this song definitely had an 80's feel to it which makes sense as this song came out in 1986. Overall, I enjoyed this song. It did get a little boring at times as it was pretty repetitiv...

Listening Blog #9

Listening Blog #9      For my blog this week, I choose the song "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" by Willie Nelson. This is a very iconic song in the country music genre and one that I really enjoy. It is a very sad song but is surprisingly simple. It tells the story of love dying as the singer leaves his love forever. This song has a story in it that really reminds me of a movie. I feel like this song could easily be used in a breakup scene in a movie and would fit really well. This song is for sure one of my favorite songs that I have listened to during this class and is one that will definitely be added to my sad times' playlist. I personally really like Willie Nelson singing this song. I always enjoy Willie Nelson but I feel that this song fits his voice and style really well. I also really liked the kind of simple guitar music in the background that doesn't distract from the overall message of the song. I think that this song is a classic for a reason and will pro...
