Listening Blog #5
For this week I choose the song "Sh-boom" by The Chords. This is one of the few songs from this class that I had listened to previous to being in this class. This is actually one of my all-time favorite songs. I originally heard it as a kid watching the movie Cars. I grew watching Cars a few times a week and it remains my favorite movie to this day. Needless to say, when I hear this song I am automatically taken back to my childhood, enjoying watching Cars. Honestly, listening to this song three times was a lot more enjoyable than some songs I have listened to on other blogs. This song has such a cool old feel to it, not only does it feel old as in when it was made, but it feels old to me because it is one of the songs of my childhood. I can imagine the characters of the movie dancing down the new road and see the scenes that this song plays over. It is interesting how music has the ability to take us to other times in the world and to other times in our own lives.
I totally agree with you 100%. I grew up watching Cars and it too is one of my favorite movies and this song is so good. When we listened to it in class and we heard the cover to it I was immediately not a fan and did not like it what-so-ever! I love the original and am so glad that Cars took that one!

I also am glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets the old feel listening to it, I started to think I was a little crazy… anyways I find it funny that two people can listen to it and come to the same image in their head of replaying cars. I loved the post! Great job!
ReplyDeleteSh-boom was also the song I did for this weeks blog and when I listened to it I was so frustrated cause it was so familiar to me but I couldn’t remember where it was from and then when the professor said it I felt pretty dumb because I enjoyed cars so much.
